Auch in diesem Jahr findet wieder der Wettkampf um das beste Spiel in diversen Kategorien bei den Game Awards 2017 statt. Produzent Geoff Keighley hat nun die Nominierten in den jeweiligen Kategorien bekannt gegeben.
Jedes Jahr werden die besten Spiele des Jahres in vielen Kategorien bei den Game Awards mit einem Preis gekürt. Das bleibt natürlich auch dieses Jahr im Dezember nicht aus. Passend dazu wurden nun die nominierten Spiele von Produzent und Moderator Geoff Keighley präsentiert.
Unter der Top-Kategorie „Game of the year“ konkurrieren dieses Mal Horizon Zero Dawn, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds und Persona 5 gegeneinander.
Neben den bereits bekannten Kategorien aus den Vorjahren, wird 2017 erstmals der „Student Game Award“ für Projekte von Schülern und Studenten vergeben.
Die Gewinner der einzelnen Rubriken werden durch ein Jury- und ein Fan Voting System bestimmt. Bereits am ersten Tag konnten über 2,5 Millionen Fan Votes gesammelt werden. Der prozentuale Einfluss von Fans liegt hierbei allerdings nur relativ gering bei 10%, während eine aus 51 Branchenvertretern bestehende internationale Jury zu 90% bestimmt, wer einen Award erhält. „The Game Awards 2017“ findet dieses Jahr am 08. Dezember 2017 statt und beginnt um 3 Uhr nachts zu deutscher Zeit. Gestreamt wird das Event über allgemein bekannte Streaming Plattformen wie Twitch, Youtube und vielen mehr. Neben den Preisverleihungen werden auch diverse Neuankündigungen sowie Trailer präsentiert.
